Book Review: The Surrogates by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele

Book
: The Surrogates by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele

About: Graphic novel that takes place in the near future. Humans can now purchase "surrogates", robotic representations of themselves that they can customize in terms of gender and appearance. Surrogate owners then put on a headset and "link in" where they can operate the surrogate in the real world while the operator is safe in their home. It's all the fun of life without the danger of death as surrogates can easily be repaired or replaced if damaged. But someone doesn't like that surrogates are seemingly taking over and it's up to a detective to find who has been going around zapping surrogates into useless heaps of metal.

Pros: Nice art, engaging story, thought provoking.

Cons: Ending comes awful suddenly

Grade A-
